Dark Chocolate & Espresso Torte

Rich, fudgy and made ahead — this dark chocolate espresso torte is the make-life-easy finish to a big steak dinner.


ingredients:

  • 200g dark chocolate (70%), chopped

  • 180g butter

  • 4 eggs

  • 150g caster sugar

  • 2 tbsp espresso or strong coffee, cooled

  • 50g plain flour

  • Cocoa powder, to dust

  • Cream or mascarpone, to serve


Preparation:

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C. Grease and line a 22cm springform tin.

  2. Melt chocolate and butter together, then stir in the espresso.

  3. Whisk eggs and sugar until pale and thick. Fold through the chocolate mixture, then fold in the flour.

  4. Pour into the tin and bake for 30–35 minutes, until just set with a slight wobble in the centre.

  5. Cool completely, dust with cocoa, and serve sliced with cream or mascarpone.
